Dorothy M. Kroetsch

Dorothy Kroetsch, 96, of Langdon, ND, passed away Friday, May 15, 2020, at Maple Manor Care Center in Langdon.

Dorothy Girodat was born September 12, 1923, in Wales, ND, to Peter and Hedwig (Bernard) Girodat. She spent her younger years attending school and working at her father’s general store in Mt. Carmel. On November 8, 1944, she was united in marriage to Linus Kroetsch in Mt. Carmel. They raised their nine children and farmed near Mt. Carmel until retiring and moving to Langdon in 1975. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, flowers, Bunco and playing any type of card game. She also embroidered towels, made baby blankets, and crocheted items for many friends and family. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church along with the altar society in Mt. Carmel and was a Catholic Daughter in Langdon.

Surviving Dorothy are her children: Gary (Sandy) of Fargo, Wayne (Lou) of Grand Forks, Kenneth (Bonnie) of Fargo, Janice Rode of Fargo, Donna (Phil) Green of Twin Lakes, CO, Carl (Vicki) of Grand Forks, Anna (Larry) Fischer of West Fargo, and Laverne (Kavae) of Lyons, KS; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Ethel Girodat and Wilma Girodat and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Linus, son Merle, grandson Jason, daughter-in-law Mary, and siblings: Evelyn (Richard) Schill, Arnold Girodat, Donald (Delores) Girodat, and Glenn Girodat.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 18, 2020, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon. The mass will be live-streamed on the St. Alphonsus Church’s website www.stalphonsuslangdon.com, and a link will be on the Askew Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Mt. Carmel, ND.
