Dorothy L. Kjos

Dorothy Kjos, 95, of Langdon, ND, passed away Friday, October 20, 2017 at Maple Manor Care Center in Langdon.

Dorothy Luverne Rouse was born June 27, 1922 in Munich, ND to Chester and Addie (Howell) Rouse. When she was young, her family moved from Munich to Loma. She attended school and graduated from Loma High School. Dorothy married Lance Kjos on December 28, 1941 in Nekoma, ND. They lived in the Loma area where they farmed and raised their family. Later, Dorothy also worked for Cavalier County Social Services as a home health aide. In 1988, she moved to Langdon and later lived in West Fargo, ND for a short time. She returned to the area and lived at the Good Samaritan Center in Osnabrock before moving to Maple Manor Care Center in 2012.

Dorothy loved gardening and was active in the quilting activities at her churches and at home. She was fortunate enough to be able to travel many places with her siblings. Dorothy loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Ladies Aid at Zion Lutheran Church in Loma and also WELCA at the United Lutheran Church in Langdon.

Surviving Dorothy are her children: Marlys (Ron) Loewen of Aurora, CO, Gayle (Gene) Smith of West Fargo, ND, Jim (Connie) Kjos of Langdon, Debbie (Bob) Ramsey of Andover, MN, and Jay (Janell) Kjos of Fargo, ND; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; siblings: Alice Krohn of Osnabrock, Laura Connelly of Las Vegas, Corine Horton of Denver, and Harris (Evonne) Rouse of Grand Forks; sisters-in-law Joyce Dahl of Loma, ND and Creola Lundquist of Hampden, ND; and brother-in-law Ralph Spenst of Langdon. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lance, son Marvin, daughter Eileen Metzler, brother Lloyd Rouse, and sisters Vivian Kruk and Lois Spenst.

Services for Dorothy will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at United Lutheran Church in Langdon, ND. Visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at United Lutheran Church and for one hour prior to service time at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be at Loma Cemetery, Loma, ND.
