Doris Mae Simon

Doris Woldmoe Simon, 87, of Starkweather, ND died Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Maple Manor Care Center in Langdon, ND.

Doris Mae was born May 6, 1929 in Hampden, ND to Henry and Josephine (Freed) Woldmoe. She graduated from Hampden High School in 1947. Doris was united in marriage to Kenneth Simon on October 28, 1947 in Hampden. They established their home on their farm in rural Starkweather.

Doris loved to sew, garden and do almost any type of craft. She belonged to Faith Lutheran Church in Hampden and also their women’s group and American Legion Auxiliary. Doris was also a member of the local Homemaker’s and always enjoyed their monthly meetings.

Kenneth passed away in 2001, but Doris continued to live on the farm until 2010 when she moved to Wheatland Estates and Maple Manor Care Center, both located in Langdon, ND.

Surviving Doris are her children: Karen (Palmer) Brekhus of Tolley, ND, Bruce (Linda) Simon of Starkweather, Kathy (Fred) Cromwell of Biloxi, MS, and Linda (Larry) Geisen of Langdon; ten grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Kenneth, her parents, brother William Woldmoe, and sisters Marie Paukner & Alice Woldmoe.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Maple Manor Care Center Chapel in Langdon, ND. Visitation will take place Monday, July 4, 2016 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home in Langdon and for one hour prior to service time at the chapel.
Interment – Storlie Cemetery, Hampden, ND.
