Donald W. Hardy

Donald W. Hardy, 59, of Walhalla, ND passed away Friday, June 22, 2018 at his home. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Walhalla Lutheran Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation will be held Monday, June 25th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Walhalla Ambulance Service.

Don was born December 12, 1958 at Cavalier, ND to William and Lois (Hillman) Hardy. Don grew up and lived in the Walhalla area his entire life. He graduated from Walhalla High School in 1977, he then attended the North Dakota State College of Science, Wahpeton, ND.

On July 16, 1983, he married Karen Sondeland of Edinburg, ND. They made their home in rural Walhalla where Don farmed with this father, brother, nephew, and son.

Don loved to farm. He enjoyed planting the crops and was very happy when the crops were off and the combine was parked. He also loved to hunt, fish, and spend quality time with his family. Don loved to go for a Sunday drive in his dream car, a Dodge Challenger. He loved his daily coffee and visit with his friends at the C-Store, Cavalier and the Walhalla Cenex.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; children: Nicole (Adam) Minster, Grand Forks, ND and Brenyn Hardy, Walhalla, ND; parents, Bill and Lois Hardy; siblings: Sharon (John) Dunnigan, Darlene (Richard) Stark, Brian (Julie) Hardy, Colleen Hardy (Doug Strand) and Kristi Hardy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents: William E. “Bill” and Mary Hardy and Joe and Sarah Hillman; uncles: Greemer Hillman, Tom Fischer, Lyle Hardy; and aunt, JoAnn Hardy.
