Dennis Lyons, 67, of Langdon, ND, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Dennis Argil Lyons was born November 28, 1950, in Fargo, ND, to William and Doris (Froemke) Lyons. He graduated from Lisbon High School and attended NDSU for one year. Dennis married Holly Hallquist on June 8, 1974, in Lisbon. He farmed his family’s land near Lisbon for 13 years before starting his banking career with Farm Credit Services. He was stationed in Devils Lake, Cavalier, and in 1988 settled in Langdon, ND. In 1999, Dennis began his employment with Farmers & Merchants State Bank in Langdon, which is where he currently was employed as an agricultural loan officer. Dennis was very involved in church-related activities. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon, Knights of Columbus - 4th Degree Knight, director on the St. Alphonsus School Foundation, as well as being a dedicated pro-life supporter and devotedly attending Adoration. He was also a member of Eagles Aerie #3454 in Langdon and past president of the Langdon Chamber of Commerce.

The most important thing to Dennis was his family. He was a big supporter of his children’s and grandchildren’s various activities and tried not to miss any of it. He enjoyed fishing and hunting if it meant he was able to spend more time with his son, Jordan, and looked forward to the family’s yearly trip up in Canada to White Shell with the Beneda family. He also treasured his friends, customers, and co-workers. He loved to visit and never wanted to leave an event early and miss something.

Surviving Dennis are his wife, Holly, of Langdon; children: Amber (Chad) Ziegler of Harvey, ND, Rachel (Chad) Schmidt of Minot, ND, and Jordan (Brittany) Lyons of Williston, ND; grandchildren: Carsyn, Noah, Sadie, Russell, and Blake; foreign exchange daughter Mel Delazzeri-Padua of Brazil; siblings: Lolly (John) Suter of Bismarck, ND, Bud (Carmen) of Lisbon, Jim (JoAnne) of Lisbon, Frank (Connie) of Lisbon, LuJean (Warren) Nohr of Vergas, MN, Lewis (Donna) of Lisbon; sister-in-law Barb Lyons of Lisbon; and mother-in-law Bernice Hallquist (Harold Dick) of Lisbon. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, brother Leo Lyons, sister Rebecca Lyons, niece Michelle Lyons, and father-in-law Bud Hallquist.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 25, 2018, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon, ND. Visitation will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service & Rosary on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at St. Alphonsus Church as well as one hour before the time of service at the church on Friday. Burial will be at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery in Lisbon, ND, on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requested memorials be directed to the St. Alphonsus School Foundation, 1202 11th St., Langdon, ND 58249.

Visitation will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service & Rosary on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at St. Alphonsus Church as well as one hour prior to service time at the church on Friday. Burial will be at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery in Lisbon, ND, on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at 2:00 p.m.
