Dennis Borgen, 77, of Langdon, ND, passed away March 2, 2026, at Altru Health in Grand Forks, ND.
Dennis was born August 11, 1948, in Langdon, ND, to Ralph and Dora (McLean) Borgen. He grew up and attended school in Hannah, graduating in 1966. He continued his education at Mayville State Teachers College, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Math Education and went on to earn his Master’s in Educational Administration from NDSU. On May 26, 1972, Dennis married Maryl Schneider in Wales, ND. They made their first home in Alsen, ND, where Dennis taught math and coached boys basketball. They moved to Calvin, ND, in 1975, where Dennis was the superintendent of schools at Border Central. In 1979, Dennis and Maryl moved to Langdon when Dennis made the transition to farming. They also owned and operated the Sears catalog store and built and co-owned the Langdon Motor Inn during this time. Dennis and Maryl enjoyed several winters in Harlingen, Texas, and this was a favorite trip for Mike.
Dennis loved spending time with friends and family. He spent many years in the summer on family trips to Rocky Lake and winters in Texas. Anytime he could get on the golf course – he did. He loved and was so proud following Bennett throughout the years playing hockey. Dennis truly loved life, had the best hugs, and will be missed by so many.
Surviving Dennis are his wife, Maryl, of Langdon, ND; sons: Chris (Missy) of Thief River Falls, MN, Mike of Langdon, and Noel of Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Bennett Borgen, Taylor (Scott) Grunewald, and McKenna Blaine (Tyler); great-granddaughter Lainey; siblings Kerwin (Flora) Borgen of Fargo and Judy (Arnold) Jordan of Langdon; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Richard.
