Clair Alfred Moen

June 4, 1950 — April 13, 2019

Clair Moen, 68, of Langdon, ND, died April 13, 2019, of cancer at the Lakota Good Samaritan Home in Lakota, ND, where he had lived since January.

Clair Alfred Moen was born in Grand Forks, ND, on June 4, 1950, to Alfred and Myrtle (Iverson) Moen. He was raised at the family farm and graduated from Nekoma High School in May of 1969. At age 14, Clair received a bravery award from the state of North Dakota for assisting his parents and four of his siblings out of their two-story home that burned down. Clair was drafted in 1969 into the US Army. After basics and IT training, he went to Viet Nam in January of 1970 for 14 months with the 6th Battalion, 32nd Artillery. Clair received many medals, again, for his bravery including the Army commendations medal and the South Viet Nam Cross of Gallantry.

After serving his country, Clair came back to ND to work for Moen Truck Line. In the spring of 1978 to May of 1979, Clair studied at the Montana Institute of Bible in Livingston. He was a semi driver for over 50 years. Clair drove trucks for Moen Truck Line, Kavali Trucking, Haraseth Farms, and Dahl Trucking. He loved driving truck, working hard, and retirement. Clair loved people and his coffee time with friends at the Langdon Superpumper. He spent many hours volunteering. He was a camp counselor at FaHoCha Bible Camp, Sunday school teacher, drove VA members to Fargo doctor appointments, people to and from the airport, visited at nursing homes and drove for Meals on Wheels. Clair answered his phone to all that needed him.

Clair is survived by brothers Earl and David (Eileen); sisters Linda (Tom) Anseth, Diane Stotz, and Betty (Jim) Fiedler; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Norma Stoy, niece Jill Anseth, nephew Max Anseth, sister-in-law Judy Moen, and brother-in-law Lyle Stotz.

Clair loved God, his family, friends, and his church family. He will be missed every day by many people. We will miss his infectious laugh, sense of humor and beautiful spirit. Clair would tell us, don’t cry for me; I get to go home to Jesus. Well done, thou good and faithful servant, Welcome Home.
