Bonnie Lewis, 68, of Cavalier, ND passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Brigid of Ireland Catholic Church in Cavalier. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service at the church.
Bonnie was born October 12, 1956, in Cavalier, ND, to Ray and Florence (Godon) Robinson. She grew up in Hensel before her family returned to Cavalier, where she graduated from Cavalier High School. She went on to attend nursing school at Lake Region College in Devils Lake, ND graduating in December 1975.
Bonnie dedicated her entire career to nursing—a calling she lived with quiet strength, deep compassion, and unshakable patience. She worked for many years at Pembina County Memorial Hospital, the Altru Clinic in Cavalier, and the Borg Pioneer Memorial Home in Mountain, where countless patients knew her simply as Nurse Bonnie or Dr. Larson’s nurse. Her calm presence and steady care made her a source of comfort to so many.
On June 10, 1978, Bonnie married Michael Lewis at St. Brigid’s Catholic Church in Cavalier. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and faith.
Bonnie loved spending time with her grandson, Kayden, who held a special place in her heart. Their bond was full of laughter, teasing, and deep mutual love. She greatly enjoyed baking with him. Bonnie also enjoyed cross-stitching, doing jigsaw puzzles, golfing, bowling, and watching game shows and sports on TV.
She is survived by her husband, Mike; her children, Chris Lewis (Lori Kalliokoski) of Cavalier, and Kelli (Brandon) Ault of Grand Forks, ND; and her grandson, Kayden Kalliokoski. She is also survived by her siblings: Jack Robinson, Gary (Delores) Robinson, Mary (Bob) Beegle, and Mark Robinson.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Florence Robinson, and most recently by her beloved dog, Lexi, who we imagine greeted her joyfully at heaven’s gates—tail wagging, fur flying, and ready to keep her company once again.
Bonnie will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her steady love, her patience, and her quiet strength. She was a caregiver by nature, a mother and grandmother by heart, and a friend to many. She will be deeply missed.
