Blake E. Basher

Blake E. Basher age 91 of Grafton, ND formerly of Cavalier ND, died Thursday, September 15, 2005, at the Lutheran Sunset Home, Grafton, ND. Funeral service will be held Monday, September 19, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 18th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation one hour before the time of service Monday. Burial in the Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids, MN.
Blake Elsworth Basher was born July 15, 1914, in Cavalier, ND. The second child of Emery and Zola (Hinkle) Basher. He attended school and helped run the family farm.
On April 29, 1932, he married Ida Jonasson at Winnipeg, Manitoba. They farmed in the Mountain, ND area. During World War II he worked as a shipbuilder in Portland, OR. After the war they returned home, he worked as a lineman for Bell Telephone, Edinburg, ND and an electrician in Walhalla, ND. In 1949, he moved to Fargo, ND where he worked as a truck driver. In 1958, his company moved him moved to Coon Rapids, MN to work as a truck mechanic. Blake retired in 1980, and later worked as a security guard in Blaine, MN. He moved back to Cavalier in 1994, and later to Grafton.
He is survived by his children, Kenneth (Delores) Basher, Grafton, ND; Keith (Patty) Basher, St. Frances, MN; and Betty (Albert) Ringling, Lakehills, TX; 19 grandhcildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren; sisters, Dora Gunlogson, Cape Coral, FL and Corene (Arthur) Vaughn, Cavalier, ND.
Blake was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ida, three brothers and four sisters.
