Betty Bata

Betty Bata, 83, of Langdon, ND passed away Friday, June 2, 2017 at Maple Manor Care Center in Langdon, ND.

Elizabeth Louise Wilhelmi was born February 8, 1934 in Loma, ND to Louis and Stella (Shelley) Wilhelmi. She attended school at North Loma Grade School and graduated from St. Alphonsus. After earning her teaching certificate from Minot State, she taught school for a short time. Betty married Robert Bata on June 28, 1956 at St. Alphonsus in Langdon, ND. They farmed and raised their family near Langdon. After retiring, they spent 27 winters in Mesa, AZ.

Betty loved attending local auction and rummage sales, gardening and flowers. She enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends and playing bingo. Most of all, she loved visiting with her grandchildren and going to their many activities. Betty was a former 4-H leader and was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.

Betty is survived by husband Robert of Langdon; children: Valerie (Randy) Darling of Langdon and Kevin (Sue) Bata of Langdon; grandchildren: Janelle (Jason) Askvig, Rachael Darling, Coy Bata, Will Bata and Mariah Bata; great-grandchildren Westin & Gavin Askvig; and siblings: Louis, Jr. (JoLeen) Wilhelmi, Arlene (John) Leisen, Sharon Wick, and Gerald (Marcia) Wilhelmi. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Daniel, Kenneth, Wallace, Alvin and Edward; and sisters Ione Banasik, Kathleen Wilhelmi, Colleen Loff, Lucille Waltz, Jeanne Hoiland, Charlotte Haggerty, and twins Joseph and Mary.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon, ND. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 prayer service on Monday, June 5, 2017 at St. Alphonsus Church. Inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Langdon, ND.
