Arnold Metzger

Arnold J. Metzger, 93, of Langdon, ND passed away Monday, May 8, 2017 at Cavalier County Memorial Hospital in Langdon.

Arnold John was born March 23, 1924 in Mount Carmel, ND to Severius and Lucy (Perius) Metzger. He attended school in Mt. Carmel and Wales, ND. Arnold was united in marriage to Alice Kartes on June 22, 1948 in Mt. Carmel, ND, and they made their home in Langdon. Arnold worked for John Deere for 19 years before starting his own business, Metzger Repair, in 1966. He worked right out of his garage/shop and never really retired as people still dropped stuff off to be repaired. Arnold loved to make his own wooden and metal toys and saved many everyday items to use on them. He loved to fish, go camping, play music-especially the piano, and tinkering on things. Arnold was a charter member of the Langdon Eagles Aerie #3454. He was a member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon.

Surviving Arnold are his wife, Alice, of Langdon; children: Dennis (Alice) of Fargo, ND, Rebecca Gellner of Grand Forks, Kathleen (Rod) Dahl of Ray, ND, Janet (Paul) Mattson of Fargo, & David (Debbie) of Selah, WA; grandchildren: Jodi, Holly, Jill, John, Justin, Ben, Kristi, Karrie, & Miranda; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; siblings: Sister Petronilla, Ray (Lorraine) Metzger, Gerry Waltz, Marilyn (Art) Gapp, & Josie (Ken) Bittner; sisters-in-law Ruth Metzger & Mary Ann Metzger; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter; son-in-law Kurt Gellner; siblings: Syl (Madeline), Nestor (Helen), Emeric (Pat), Roy, and Maurice; and brother-in-law Tom Waltz.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 2017 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon. Visitation will take place from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a 6:30 Rosary and 7:00 prayer service on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and for one hour prior to service time at the church on Friday. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Langdon, ND.

Visitation - Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 5-7:00 p.m. with a 6:30 Rosary and 7:00 prayer service at St. Alphonsus Church.
