Arlene Swenson

December 10, 1952 — October 12, 2023

Perth, ND

Arlene Swenson, 70, of Perth, ND, passed away, with her husband, children and grandchildren by her side, Oct. 12, 2023, at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck, ND, after a 10-year battle with cancer.  Arlene was a loving wife, mother, Nana, sister, aunt and friend, who was always there when we needed her.

Arlene was born December 10, 1952. During her childhood she moved around to many communities and graduated from Munich High School.  She continued her education at Joseph's School of Hair Design.  Arlene married Robert Swenson June 29, 1987.  They lived in Perth ND.  She did several jobs including working in a floral shop, at a chiropractor's office and ending her career as a branch manager for FCCU in Bisbee, ND.  She loved to be outside in the summer and do all the mowing she could.  She loved people and had a gift-to-gab.

Among her many talents and hobbies she loved to crochet, knit, sew, draw, cut hair, decorate, mow the grass, garden, can, plant flowers, bake and anything else that prevented her from sitting down.  She loved to make people happy.  She had a beautiful smile that would light up a room and a contagious laugh.  Arlene's children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, all perfect in her eyes.  She taught many of them her talents and hobbies.  Arlene loved to camp, to be outdoors, and to be with her husband, children and grandchildren.  Arlene did everything with her whole heart and at 100 percent.  We were not ready for her to go, and she fought a good fight with cancer for as long as she could.  We are all very thankful for the extra time we were blessed with.

Surviving Arlene are her husband, Robert, of Perth, ND; children: Stephanie (Aaron) Luebke of Bismarck, ND, Renae Schottenbauer of Bisbee, ND, Chad Schottenbauer of Fargo, ND, Stacie Schottenbauer of Montevideo, MN, Kristi (Kris) Honsey of Rolette, ND, and Bryce Swenson of Bismarck, ND;  step-children: Lisa (Scott) Lloyd of Bisbee, ND, Chad Swenson of Fargo, ND, and Krissy (Chris) Quam of Devils Lake, ND; grandchildren:  Brooklyn, Ellie and Hadley; McKenzie, Gavin, and Ashlyn; Alex; Addilyn; Dalton and Gates; several step-grandchildren; and siblings: Dave, Dorothy, Kim and LeeAnn. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rena; mother and father-in-law Orin and Doretta; siblings Allen and Sherman; her grandparents; and friends.
