Allyn Hart

September 12, 1939 — April 25, 2019

Allyn Hart, 79, of Wales and Langdon, ND, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2019, at his home in Langdon.

Allyn Keith Hart was born September 12, 1939, in Langdon, ND, to Charles and Mabelle (Kittleson) Hart. He attended his elementary grades in Moscow Township School #1 and graduated from Langdon High School in 1957. Allyn continued his education at NDSU where he was active in Alpha Gamma Rho and served as student body president, graduating in 1961. He returned to Moscow Township where he lived on the family farm his entire life. Allyn and Carol Solberg were united in marriage in 1963 at Zion Lutheran Church in Churchs Ferry, ND. Al was a member of the Langdon Jaycees, Maple Manor Care Center Board, Dakota Growers Pasta Company Board, Cavalier County Job Development Board, Cavalier Rural Electric Board, United Lutheran Church, numerous farm organizations, a Wales Eagle 4-H leader, and was a Moscow Township officer for 45 years.

Allyn was the heart of the farm. Al liked to figure out ways to maintain his farm machinery. He allowed his sons and their friends to experiment, to make mistakes, and to fix their mistakes in the shop. When the new shop was built, his adult sons, their friends, grandsons, and their friends experimented, made mistakes, and learned. The cycle was continuous, and the shop was an open lab. Even after retiring he was always eager to help his sons by driving tractor, combine, and he especially enjoyed swathing canola.

Allyn was also the heart of the family. He loved to spend time with family and attend his grandchildren’s events. He shared his love of Bison football with each grandchild where he eventually watched Andria and Austin march in the band.

When asked what he wanted his obituary to say, he replied, “I tried to be a good man.”

Surviving Al are his wife, Carol; sons Brian (Darby) of Wales and Steve (Kim) of Wales; grandchildren: Andria, Austin, Brandon, Daniel, and Adam; brothers Don (Carol) Hart and Gary (Judy) Hart; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
