Dennis Hartje

Dennis A. Hartje, 69, of Cavalier, ND passed away Friday, June 11, 2021 at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier, ND. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the United Lutheran Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services.      Dennis A. Hartje was born April 10, 1952 at Grafton, ND to Ardell and Mata (Stark) Hartje. He grew up in Cavalier and graduated from Cavalier High School in 1970. Dennis then attended North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND and received a graphic arts degree in 1972. He worked at the Cavalier Chronicle for 32 years and Leever’s Foods as meat manager for 10 years. While married to Beverly Dirks, they had three children, Ryan, Jill, and Brad. Things he enjoyed were spending time with his grandchildren, golfing where he was a two-time club champion, fishing, hunting, and gardening. He always made a mean batch of sauerkraut!      He is survived by his children: Ryan (Lisa) Hartje, Mandan, ND, Jill (Lucas) Mauch, Wyndmere, ND, Brad (Jamie) Hartje, Fargo, ND, grandchildren: Cole Hartje, Logan and Taylor Mauch, Madilynn and Calvin Hartje. Also surviving are his siblings: Marlene (Clarence) Boettger, Judy (Carlton) Ill, Joanne (Roger) Rasmussen, Gary (Karin) Hartje, and Scott Hartje; and sister-in-law, Gwen Hartje.      Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Mark Hartje.

My deepest sympathies on the loss of your Father/Brother.

Dennis' Family, That smile in this pic says it all about Dennis. He had that little glimmer that sparkled when he was going to do something devilish-never to hurt anyone but just to tease them. We was always great to work with at Leevers whenever we needed to place a meat order for the Faith in Action cookouts or the Community Christmas Dinner he was on it. May the memories and stories told bring a smile to your face, warm your heart and even a tear to your eyes. All of those are part of the healing. Our deepest sympathy to all of you, Don & Michelle Murray

Oh, we are so sorry to see this. This is a great picture of him. I so missed him when he left Leever's. Always a smile on his face. Rest easy, kind man. Sympathies to his family and many friends.
